Her Guardian, Her Rest

Her Guardian, Her Rest — a sleeping unicorn with an iridescent rainbow mane, watched over by a faceless guardian of golden light with vast wings

Premium — 30 / 50 cm

She was never only a lover. She is the companion who stays, the friend who listens, the one who carries the quiet weight — the bills, the burdens, the arrangements nobody thanks her for — and still finds her own joy without apology.

The unicorn sleeps because she is finally allowed to rest. Not abandoned, not alone, but held. Her mane runs in every colour because a woman who is free does not fade; she thrives, she creates, she loves what she loves without guilt, and a good marriage does not shrink her — it steadies her.

Behind her stands a guardian with no face, because protection like this was never human. It is whatever she believes watches over her: presence, not permission. It does not wake her, it does not lead her, it does not ask her to be smaller. It simply stands at her shoulder while she lives her best life on Earth, and makes sure nothing reaches her that shouldn't.

This piece began as a pencil drawing on a large blank canvas — a unicorn, half-finished, started by my wife. It has been channelled and completed, colour brought to the mane, the guardian revealed where the empty space had been waiting.

Hang it where she'll see it. Let it say the thing that rarely gets said out loud: that she is protector and protected, provider and free, wife and whole. This one is a shout-out to wives — the ones who guard quietly and thrive loudly.
